Description
A shock arrester that can be used as a water hammer arrester and is intended for a single outlet such as a washing machine or tap. Can also be used for a small group of outlets in a bathroom. It should be installed close to the valve or tap which will minimse the effect of the shock on the system. Due to its stainless steel construction it is suitable for use with brackish water and in coastal environments. It consists of a pressure vessel whoch is divided into two chambers by a flexible rubber diaphragm or membrane. The closed chamber will be filled with air and pressurised to 3.5 bar. This will act as a damper due to the compressibility of the trapped air. The open chamber is filled with water and connected directly to the system. When a pressure surge occurs a small change in volume absorbs the excess pressure due to the compression of air conteracting the thrust on the rubber membrane.
