Posing alongside their favourite midfielders, generous customers and staff at our Hull branch raised more than £500 for Save the Children.
During the festive season, Hull City players Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore signed shirts and took photos at our Hull branch on Stoneferry Road to raise money for the charity Save the Children who works in 120 countries, fighting for children’s rights and helping them to fulfil their potential.
We have a strong link with Hull City Tigers, as sponsors of the South Stand at KC Stadium since it opened in 2002. Whilst the midfielders made their debut for Hull City Tigers at the beginning of the last season, it’s great to see they have already grown popular with local team supporters!
Keith Eames, joint Hull branch director, said: “It was fantastic to welcome our local players Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore to the branch. We are all glad that our customers enjoyed the experience. Having raised £500 for our chosen charity is a great achievement, and I cannot thank our customers and staff enough.”
As well as meeting with the local sportsmen, every customer who made a purchase throughout the day was entered into a grand prize draw to win signed football shirts and the players’ football boots.
The shirts were won by Andy Baker of Graham Lagan Construction and Andy Robinson of Imperio Solutions Ltd, Livermore’s boots were won by customer Steve Jones and Huddlestone’s boots were won by Paula Thomas.
Founder and CEO of MKM Builders Supplies, David Kilburn, has extended his thanks to all the generous people who donated on the day.
“Thanks to the generosity of the people of Hull, many children will have a chance of a better life,” he said.
“I am glad that MKM were able to provide this opportunity for our customers to meet with members of their local team. I hope that it becomes a memorable experience to take into the New Year.”
