Young MKM employees recognised in Top 30 Under 30 awards

Two employees based at our Stoneferry Road site have been awarded a place on the Top 30 Under 30 in business for the Hull and Humber Region.

The Top 30 Under 30 for the Hull and Humber region aims to show the best in upcoming talent and inspire young people and adults to maximise their own business potential.

Brad Palin, salesperson at MKM Hull made the list due to his commitment to enhancing his knowledge and fill the skills gaps within the team. He’s contributed to some small changes that have yielded huge results that have made a massive difference for the Hull branch since he joined 10 years ago.

Known to many customers as “my go-to person” because of his cheery nature and product knowledge, Brad’s quote-chasing behaviour has resulted in a significant increase in quote-to-sale conversion. This efficient way of working has been rolled out to the team, and has seen MKM’s Hull’s plumbing & heating department grow turnover by 50% to £15m.

“I was worried about what I would do growing up. A lot of options were put infront of me but none of them were right. I feel very lucky to be at MKM”, says Brad. “The most important thing is knowledge – always expanding and developing new technologies and innovations. I’m always keen to make sure we know what’s coming out and how it works so we can look after our customers.”

Jenny Fussey, working from the HR team at our central support office, was recognised for her tenacity in progressing with her development. She has combined her role with a part time masters degree and ensure’s she’s ready to tackle anything and find ways of improving HR processes.

Jenny’s mature, professional and ambitious outlook, alongside her outstanding academic achievement means it’s easy to forget that she’s just 26. Jenny has demonstrated a real willingness to learn and take the lead, never shying away from a development opportunity. This proactivity means Jenny is supporting MKM’s youngest team member, Lydia, mentoring and assisting with her development.

“I combined my role with my master’s degree. I really wanted to do it because I’m so passionate about HR. I now mentor a HR Admin and I’m really enjoying it, she wanted to develop and I was keen to help.”

Brad, Jenny and other representatives from MKM Building Supplies attended an awards evening on 20th April.

Congratulations to Jenny and Brad on making the list, thank you for all you do in the business and everyone at MKM Building Supplies wishes you a bright future!
