National Apprenticeship week – Meet Tiffany

It’s National Apprentice Week and we’re celebrating the apprentices up and down the country working in the construction industry. Apprenticeships within the industry are generally more popular with males, but as it’s International Women’s Day tomorrow, we’re catching up with Tiffany, apprentice at MKM Louth, to share her experiences of her apprenticeship.

Who are you?

Tiffany West

What do you do?

I joined the MKM team when the branch opened in August 2018 to work as a Branch Apprentice. Alongside serving customers I closely support Dawn and Karen in the Kitchen and Bathroom showroom with admin.

What does being an apprentice mean to you?

It means a lot to me as I know I am learning and expanding my product knowledge more and more everyday. There’s the opportunity for so many training opportunities within MKM. It’s also great to be around such supportive directors and team members.

What do you enjoy most about working at MKM?

I learn a lot everyday, from my team and talking to the customers. I really enjoy helping them with their enquiries.

Any advice for people looking for apprenticeships?

I would recommend to anyone if they get the opportunity to do an apprenticeship to run with it. It’s a great hands on way to learn on the job. I feel I have learnt so much doing an apprenticeship, more then being at university.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

When I was younger I wanted to be a designer, so I’m in my element when i’m helping Dawn and Karen.
