MKM Ripon donate materials to the ‘Fields of Mud, Seeds of Hope’ installation.

MKM Ripon were more than delighted to donate materials to the ‘Fields of Mud, Seeds of Hope’ installation in Ripon Cathedral as part of the Wilfred Owen memorial walk.

The installation erected by artist Dan Metcalfe and his team, shows a series of silhouettes of WW1 soldiers made entirely out of battlefield mud. Deep within the mud millions of ungerminated poppy seeds lay dormant.

Rob and Simon from MKM Ripon were invited to a special remembrance service at Ripon Cathedral by Hazel Barker a local fundraiser to say thank you for their donations.

It was a lovely service with special guests such as the Military Wives Chore in attendance. Also, a lady played a bugle that was stolen from a German as a souvenir from the war.

“It was an honour to be invited to the service, it was a fantastic evening of remembrance and at times very emotional.” said Rob Taylor MKM Ripon’s Branch Director.

Rob and Simon would like to thank Hazel Barker and all the event organisers for putting on such a memorable evening.
