The team at MKM Kirkcaldy are doing their bit for the Poppy Appeal this year, volunteering as Area Organiser for Poppyscotland.
After calling the organisation to request a collection box for the trade counter, branch director Ian found they had no-one available to distribute poppies in the Fife area this year.
Poppyscotland supports those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces, and especially at this time of year, relies on local volunteers to distribute, collect and bank poppies and the money raised.
After speaking to his team, Ian decided the branch would step in and deliver 5000 boxes of poppies to the local area.
The work that Poppyscotland does is close to Ian’s heart, as both his Grandfathers fought in WWII, and his Great Great Uncle Robert Haxton rests in France. Ian visited the grave on the 100th anniversary of his death.
Overall in Scotland, 4.5 million poppies will be distributed. Keep an eye out for collection boxes in businesses and community spaces all around Kirkcaldy, and find out more about the work of Poppyscotland.
