MKM are fully committed to protecting and respecting your privacy, adhering to the guidelines set in the Data Protection Act 1998 and General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 taking effect from the 25th May 2018.

This refers to your card details including card number and its security/CVV code. These details are processed through our partners Sagepay or Lloyds Cardnet, both independent payment service providers. We do not store any of your payment information ourselves.

Sharing your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party, that includes your name, email address, address or payment card details.

However, we may share your information with select partners and categories of companies to provide you with the full range of our services, as set out below. We will only provide those companies with the information they need to deliver the service we have contracted them for, nothing more.

- Companies that allow us to get your purchase to you, such as payment service providers or delivery companies
- Selected manufacturers or suppliers we deal with, for the purposes of fulfilment of ‘direct to site’ orders, warranty, maintenance and safety compliance (such as product recalls)

- Credit reference agencies and finance partners, so we can help minimise the risk of fraud within our business and to our customers

We may also provide third parties with redacted or summarised information or analytics about our customers, if we do so, we will ensure it does not identify you.

Where these lawful bases are applicable, or if you have said we can, we may send you marketing messages by email, text message, post or by telephone call. By unsubscribing from our marketing messages, you will still receive service messages from us (such as order updates, confirmation of account payments, confirmation of changes to your account, forgotten password emails (if requested by you) and messages regarding any other important issues that may affect you as a customer.

Please note that whilst we aim to action your request as soon as possible, in some cases it can take up to 30 days for all our systems to be updated, you may still receive marketing messages from us during this time.

Seeing adverts for MKM online

We engage in online advertising, this helps us to keep you aware of branch news, events and product offers.

We target these MKM adverts to you whilst you are on external websites and apps. This is done through a variety of digital advertising platforms and technologies like web beacons, pixels, ad tags, cookies, mobile identifiers, as well as those services offered by some websites and social networks, such as Google Customer Match or Facebook Custom Audiences.

These adverts will be based on information we hold about you, your previous use of our website (your product or search history) or on MKM adverts you may have previously interacted with.

Our website may offer you the opportunity to share or follow MKM through third party social networking functionality such as ‘share’, ‘like’ or ‘follow’ buttons. Our website may also contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks and manufacturers.

We are committed to protecting the security of your personal information using a variety of security technologies and procedures. MKM have achieved Cyber Essentials Plus certification and keep security matters under constant review.

We recommend that you also take steps to keep your information safe, this includes using up to date security software and generally being vigilant whilst using our website. Remember, we will never ask you to email sensitive information such as your password.

MKM Building Supplies are based in the UK and most of our data is stored on secure servers inside the EU, however sometimes your personal information may be transferred outside of the EU.
