Coronavirus Update

MKM BUILDING SUPPLIES SUSPENDS OPERATIONS AT ALL BRANCHES

As the Coronavirus outbreak escalates, MKM Building Supplies Ltd has taken the difficult decision to suspend operations at all 73 branches from Friday 27 March across the UK until further notice, with outstanding deliveries being completed by Tuesday 31 March.

Selected branches will continue to support the national effort by running deliveries for essential services including the NHS, but will not be open for collections or for customers to visit.

Over the past weeks, MKM has implemented widespread changes to protect staff and customers at all branches, but despite best efforts to operate within Public Health England’s guidelines, it is evident that trading safely will become increasingly difficult.

MKM Building Supplies, Founder and CEO David Kilburn commented:

“It is with a heavy heart and with no-other option that we are suspending operations at our branches.

Our customers, many of whom are local tradespeople provide their communities with essential services. They help ensure people’s properties are safe through fixing broken boilers, leaking roofs, making safe electrical faults, unblocking drains and much more besides.

MKM’s teams all over the UK have strived to retain a level of service for as long as possible, however this situation is unprecedented. Like so many British businesses, we are suspending operations temporarily to safeguard the future for us all.

I would like to thank all our 1650 colleagues across the business and our broader network, for their support and tremendous efforts at this incredibly difficult time. We must now look after our people in the only way we can, by telling them not to open their businesses.

MKM Building Supplies has been at the heart of our local communities for 25 years.  We are taking these measures now to ensure we are here in another 25 years. We look forward to being there to support our trade again when it is safe to do so.”

MKM’s primary purpose is to service customers and their local communities, the business is now encouraging colleagues who are fit and well to support the NHS through volunteering at https://www.goodsamapp.org/nhs

If you meet the criteria for essential projects or for any other enquires please contact hello@mkmbs.co.uk. For customer account payments please contact the credit control team on 01482 387300 or creditcontrolteam@mkmbs.co.uk.

MKM’s website is closed for purchases, but available for customers to manage and make payments on their account. The website and social media channels will be updated regularly as the situation develops.
