Beverley: Yard Assistant

In this role you will work as part of our external team of staff. Duties will include assisting customers, providing excellent customer service, loading and unloading vehicles, picking and checking orders, storing stock safely and maintaining a tidy, safe working environment.

You will be working within a small close-knit team and will be dealing with our customers on a daily basis so we are looking for someone that has the likeability factor, someone that our customers will look forward to seeing knowing that they will always receive excellent customer service. You will also be required to be hard working, have a positive “can-do” attitude and pay attention to detail.

Bishop Auckland: Yard Assistant Van Driver

In this role you will work as part of our external team of staff.

Responsibilities and Duties
-Making multi drop deliveries to customers in the surrounding area in a transit van
-Loading and unloading vehicles
-Accurately picking and checking orders
-Assisting customers as required
-Providing excellent customer service at all times
-Storing stock safely
-Maintaining a tidy and safe working environment

Qualifications and Skills
-Full UK driving licence essential
-A counterbalance forklift licence would be advantageous for this role

Bishop Auckland: Yard Apprentice

You will join MKM as a Trainee Yard Assistant and we will support you through your training to gain your Apprenticeship.

The role will be based in the yard, therefore your training will be based around the variety of products that we stock as well as the warehousing and distribution practices you will be involved in. You will also spend time working in other areas within the branch to ensure you gain a full understanding of the business. Over time there may also be the opportunity for you to progress into other roles within the business if you have the potential.

We have been recruiting apprentices for serval years and a number of our top performing trainees have now taken up senior roles within the business. We are continually expanding so the opportunity is there for you to carve out a career with the largest independent builders merchants, if you have the drive and determination to succeed.

Unlike some apprenticeships, which pay the apprenticeship rate and may not result in employment upon completion, here at MKM we will pay you the minimum wage from day one and the position is a permanent one.

Chester: Yard Assistant/Relief HGV Driver

In this role, you will work as part of our external team of staff.
Responsibilities and Duties

-Assist customers by providing excellent customer service
-Load and unload vehicles
-Pick and check orders, storing stock safely and maintaining a tidy and safe working environment.
-You will also be required to make multi-drop deliveries to customers in the surrounding area using the Class 2 HGV vehicles.

Qualifications and Experience

-A Counterbalance Forklift license would be advantageous for this role

Crewe: Plumbing and Heating Manager

This is a great opportunity for a pro-active individual to take ownership of the sales and development of our plumbing and heating (lightside) ranges. You will be encouraged and given the freedom to develop your own ideas that support the branch goals, effectively running a ‘business within a business’.

Your overall aim will be to establish and grow our customer base, maximise plumbing and heating sales and profit and make MKM Crewe the place of choice for all plumbing and heating supplies.

You will also be responsible for providing quotations for customers, purchasing materials and managing stock levels. In addition to dealing with customers that come into the branch and approach you, you should also be committed to taking a proactive approach to plumbing and heating sales and use every opportunity to make or increase a sale.

Sound plumbing and heating product knowledge is essential for this role. The successful candidate should also have previous sales experience in a plumbing and heating/ builders merchant environment and have worked at a managerial or supervisory level.

In addition, we are looking for someone who is confident, outgoing, has the ability to build and develop great relationships, a good telephone manner and must be computer literate. We are looking for someone who possesses that extra drive and determination to make a real success of what they do.

Crewe: Yard Foreman

The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in managing a warehouse/yard in a fast-paced environment and experience of effectively running a successful function. The individual will be responsible for the yard/warehouse operation and for providing excellent standards of service, efficiency and performance.

Duties will include:
- Responsibility for the day to day operations of the yard/warehouse department
- Efficiently managing a team of yard/warehouse staff, ensuring orders are correct and on time, providing top quality customer service
- Responsibility for all goods in/out
- Ensuring company compliance of all warehouse/yard policies, legislations and procedures as well as taking responsibility for health and safety issues of the warehouse/yard
- Managing, monitoring and developing a team of warehouse/yard staff
- Involvement in strategic development and improvements
- Ensuring housekeeping is well maintained including excellent external presentation of our branch
- Maintain accurate administrative records

The successful candidate should have excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. We are looking for a candidate with strong people management skills who is keen to manage and develop the team whilst operating an efficient and effective yard/warehouse.

You should have previous foreman/management experience in a similar role and experience within the merchant industry would be preferable. Knowledge of the products/industry would also be an advantage, as would a full driving licence and fork lift truck licence.

Hexham: Kitchen Sales Apprentice

You will join MKM as an Apprentice Kitchen Sales Designer and we will support you through your training to gain your Apprenticeship. For this role, the successful candidate will undergo a Trade Business Services Apprenticeship, but will specialise in the Kitchen and Bathroom Sales side of the business.

Choosing a new kitchen is a big decision for our customers, therefore you will need to get to know them, listen to their needs and work with them every step of the way to ensure their requirements are met. You will be dealing with customers coming into the branch, ensuring they get the best service and advice with regards to kitchen and bathrooms ensuring you identify and recommend the products that best suit their needs, paying close attention to detail and ensuring customer satisfaction every time. In addition, you will also learn how to design kitchen and bathrooms using CAD software.

You will also spend time working in other areas within the branch to ensure you gain a full understanding of the business, therefore you will need to have a flexible approach to your duties.

We require an experienced cleaner to clean the newly developed Kitchen and Bathroom display area within the branch showroom.

Yeovil: Kitchen & Bathroom Sales Designer

Our Yeovil branch are looking for someone to drive the kitchen and bathrooms part of the business forward. We are looking for someone who has experience in both kitchen and bathroom sales design.

Choosing a new kitchen and bathroom is a big decision for our customers, therefore you will need to get to know them, listen to their needs and work with them every step of the way to ensure their requirements are met. You will identify and recommend the products that best suit their needs, paying close attention to detail and ensuring customer satisfaction every time.

In addition to visitors to our showroom you will need to possess the drive and confidence to pro-actively generate new business. Previous experience in a similar role is required, however additional training will be offered.

Experience of ‘20-20 Fusion’ planning software, or similar, and the ability to demonstrate sound product knowledge of kitchen and bathroom products would be desirable but not essential. The branch is looking for a candidate who possess a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Your overall aim will be to establish and grow our customer base, maximise plumbing and heating sales and profit and make MKM Yeovil the place of choice for all plumbing and heating supplies.

You will also be responsible for providing quotations for customers, purchasing materials and managing stock levels. In addition to dealing with customers that come into the branch and approach you, you should also be committed to taking a proactive approach to plumbing and heating sales and use every opportunity to make or increase a sale.

Sound plumbing and heating product knowledge is essential for this role. The successful candidate should also have previous sales experience in a plumbing and heating/ builders merchant environment and have worked at a managerial or supervisory level.

In addition, we are looking for someone who is confident, outgoing, has the ability to build and develop great relationships, a good telephone manner and must be computer literate. We are looking for someone who possesses that extra drive and determination to make a real success of what they do.

Yeovil: Yard Assistant

In this role you will work as part of our external team of staff. Duties will include assisting customers, providing excellent customer service, loading and unloading vehicles, picking and checking orders, storing stock safely and maintaining a tidy, safe working environment.

You will be working within a small close-knit team and will be dealing with our customers on a daily basis so we are looking for someone that has the likeability factor, someone that our customers will look forward to seeing knowing that they will always receive excellent customer service. You will also be required to be hard working, have a positive attitude and pay attention to detail.
