Beverley: Warehouse/Yard Manager

Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsibility for the day to day operations of the yard/warehouse department
- Efficiently managing a team of yard/warehouse staff, ensuring orders are correct and on time, providing top quality customer service
- Responsibility for all goods in/out
- Ensuring company compliance of all warehouse/yard policies, legislations and procedures as well as taking responsibility for health and safety issues of the warehouse/yard
- Managing, monitoring and developing a team of warehouse/yard staff
- Involvement in strategic development and improvements
- Ensuring housekeeping is well maintained including excellent external presentation of our branch
- Maintain accurate administrative records
- Providing excellent standards of service, efficiency and performance

Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven track record in managing a warehouse/yard in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem solving skills
- Strong people management skills
- Previous management experience in a similar role
- Experience within the merchant industry would be preferable but is not essential

Burnley: Sales Apprentice

We have been recruiting apprentices for several years and a number of our top performing trainees have now taken up senior roles within the business.  We are continually expanding so the opportunity is there for you to carve out a career with the largest independent builder’s merchants, if you have the drive and determination to succeed.

 

You will join MKM as a trainee Salesperson and we will support you through your training to gain your Trade Supplier Apprenticeship.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

In this role you will be responsible for a range of sales procedures within the branch including:

 

-Spending time on the trade counter, dealing with customers ensuring they get the best service and advice

-Providing quotations and following them up

-Responsibility for aspects of stock management

You will also spend time working in other areas within the branch to ensure you gain a full understanding of the business including administration tasks which could involve:

-Processing goods inwards paperwork

-Completing bank books and controlling petty cash

-Creating despatch notes, generating invoices and dealing with customer and supplier invoice queries.

Unlike some apprenticeships, which pay the apprenticeship rate and may not result in employment upon completion, here at MKM we will pay you the minimum wage from day one and the position is a permanent one.

 

Qualifications and Skills

-Candidates should demonstrate the desire and potential to learn quickly and develop a career with MKM.

-Whilst GCSEs are not essential reasonable grades, Grade C and above would be helpful in Maths, English and IT.

Burton upon Trent: HGV Driver

In this role you will be responsible for multi drop deliveries to customers in the surrounding area, providing top quality customer service.

The role involves driving the Class 2 HGV vehicles, there a Class 2 licence, digital tachograph card and up to date CPC training is essential. HIAB certification and experience would be a distinct advantage for this role.

As a driver you are the face of MKM to many of our customers and as such you should be of smart appearance and have a positive, friendly and helpful manner. You should also be enthusiastic, hardworking and have a positive attitude.

Burton upon Trent: Trade Counter Salesperson

At our NEW Burton upon Trent branch, we are currently recruiting for a Trade Counter Salesperson (Building Supplies).

The ideal candidate will be approachable and friendly, someone who will meet the needs of our customers and provide service with a smile. Having a likeable personality is essential for this role.

In this position, you will play a key role in the sale of our full range of building supplies.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Dealing with customers mainly face to face however occasionally over the telephone

Crewe: Plumbing and Heating Manager

This is a great opportunity for a pro-active individual to take ownership of the sales and development of our plumbing and heating (lightside) ranges. Your overall aim will be to establish and grow our customer base, maximise plumbing and heating sales and profit and make MKM Crewe the place of choice for all plumbing and heating supplies.

Dereham: Bathroom Sales Designer

Bathrooms are an element of what we currently offer at our Dereham branch and is an area with great potential for development and growth.

We are looking for an experienced person to drive this part of the business forward.

It is essential that the successful candidate has bathroom sales design experience.

Choosing a new bathroom is a big decision for our customers, therefore you will need to get to know them, listen to their needs and work with them every step of the way to ensure their requirements are met. You will identify and recommend the products that best suit their needs, paying close attention to detail and ensuring customer satisfaction every time.

In addition to visitors to our showroom you will need to possess the drive and confidence to pro-actively generate new business. You should have previous experience in a similar role and a proven track record of achievement.

You should have experience of using CAD, ‘20-20 Fusion’ planning software or similar would be desirable.

You should also be able to demonstrate sound product knowledge of bathroom products.

A basic knowledge of kitchens products would be advantageous but is not essential.

In addition to your product knowledge you should possess a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service.

The individual will be responsible for the transport and distribution operations and also for providing excellent standards of service, efficiency and performance.

Duties will include:
- Responsibility for the day to day operations of the transport department

Working as part of the external sales team, the main aim of this role will be to identify new business opportunities, promoting MKM as their supplier of choice and converting this into regular business.
