Bishop Auckland: Plumbing and Heating Salesperson

In this position, you will play a key role in the sale of our full range of plumbing and heating products.

Duties will include providing quotations for customers, purchasing materials and managing stock levels. In addition to dealing with customers that come into the branch and approach you, you should also be committed to taking a proactive approach to plumbing and heating sales and use every opportunity to make or increase a sale.

Sound plumbing and heating product knowledge is essential for this role. The successful candidate should also have previous sales experience in a plumbing and heating merchant environment.

In addition, we are looking for someone who is confident, outgoing, has the ability to build and develop great customer relationships, a good telephone manner and must be computer literate.

Driffield: Timber Salesperson

In this position, you will play a key role in the sale of our full range of timer, sheet and joinery products.

Duties will include providing quotations for customers, purchasing materials and managing stock levels. In addition to dealing with customers that come into the branch and approach you, you should also be committed to taking a proactive approach to timber sales and use every opportunity to make or increase a sale.

Sound timber, sheet and joinery product knowledge is essential for this role. The successful candidate should also have previous sales experience in a builder’s merchant/ timber sales environment.

In addition, we are looking for someone who is confident, outgoing, has the ability to build and develop great customer relationships, a good telephone manner and must be computer literate.

Glasgow: Warehouse Assistant

In this role you will work as part of the busy yard team. Your duties will include assisting customers with their enquiries, loading and unloading vehicles, picking and checking orders accurately, checking supplier deliveries, storing stock safely and maintaining a tidy and safe working environment.

Previous experience in a similar position within the industry is essential for this role and a counterbalance forklift truck license would be a distinct advantage.

You will be working within a close knit team and will be dealing with our customers on a daily basis so we are looking for someone that has the likeability factor, someone that our customers will look forward to seeing knowing that they will always receive excellent customer service. You should also have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, good numeracy skills and great attention to detail.

Hexham: Salesperson

In this role you will work as part of a small team responsible for the sale of a wide range of products, including building, plumbing and timber products. You will also provide quotations to customers and follow these up, purchase materials and offer advice where required.

You will be working at the counter focusing on customers that come into the branch, therefore you will be required to have previous customer service experience and be someone who likes interacting with customers. Your ability to build up a strong rapport with our customers will be essential in this role and you will need to understand the importance of following up enquiries and keeping customers updated.

Experience of working within the industry and product knowledge would be advantageous for this role.

You should be outgoing, have the ability to build and develop positive customer relationships, good numerical ability, a good telephone manner, be computer literate and possess a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Hull: Plumbing and Heating Salesperson

Kitchens are an element of what we currently offer at our new Newent branch, but is an area with great potential for development and growth.

We are looking for an experienced person to drive this part of the business forward.

Choosing a new kitchen is a big decision for our customers, therefore you will need to get to know them, listen to their needs and work with them every step of the way to ensure their requirements are met. You will identify and recommend the products that best suit their needs, paying close attention to detail and ensuring customer satisfaction every time.

In addition to visitors to our showroom, you will need to possess the drive and confidence to pro-actively generate new business. You should have previous experience in a similar role and a proven track record of achievement.

You should also have experience of ‘20-20 Fusion’ or ‘Plan it’ planning software, or similar, and be able to demonstrate your sound product knowledge of kitchen products. In addition to your product knowledge you should possess a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Norwich: Sales Representative

Working as part of the external sales team, the main aim of this role will be to identify new business opportunities, promoting MKM as their supplier of choice and converting this into regular business.

In addition, you will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with existing customers and ensuring they continue to receive great customer service. You will predominantly work in and around the Norwich area and will be required to take a pro-active approach to visiting existing and potential customers, building lasting relationships and exceeding their expectations. In all dealings with customers you will be expected to use every opportunity to maximise sales and margin.

You must be an excellent negotiator, confident, enthusiastic, numerate and well presented. Knowledge of a good range of building, plumbing and timber products and experience of working in a similar position within the industry will be a distinct advantage.

Perth: Joinery Sales Apprentice

This is an excellent opportunity for either a school leaver or college graduate to develop a career with our successful Perth branch.

Recently our Perth branch opened its new bespoke joinery centre and due to increasing demand for joinery products in branch they now require a Joinery Sales Apprentice to help support this side of the business.

You will be mentored throughout your training in branch by the Business Development Manager, to ensure you develop comprehensive knowledge of our timber, sheet and joinery products. Training will be provided in the form of Specialist Product Knowledge training which is accredited by City & Guilds through Manchester Open Learning. You will also carry out training through an approved apprenticeship scheme.

Day to day duties of this role will involve, giving excellent service to our customers by supplying them with extensive product knowledge either in branch or over the telephone, preparing quotes and also assisting the Business Development Manager with other ad hoc duties. You will also spend time working in other areas within the branch to ensure you gain a full understanding of the business. There will also be the opportunity to visit our suppliers sites.

We have been recruiting apprentices for 8 years and a number of our top performing trainees have now taken up senior roles within the business. We are continuously expanding so the opportunity is there for you to carve out a career within the largest independent builders merchants, if you have the drive and determination to succeed!

Unlike some apprenticeships where they do not result in employment upon completion, here at MKM the position is a permanent one. Redcar: Temporary Relief HGV Driver/Yard Assistant (Min. 5 Month)

In this role, you will work as part of our external team of staff. Duties will include assisting customers, providing excellent customer service, loading and unloading vehicles, picking and checking orders, storing stock safely and maintaining a tidy and safe working environment.

You will also be required to cover driving duties as and when business needs demand, which will involve making multi drop deliveries in the surrounding area. You therefore must possess a Class 2 driving licence. A counterbalance forklift truck licence and Hiab certification would also be useful for this role.

You will be working within a small close knit team and will be dealing with our customers daily. You will therefore need to have the likeability factor and be the person that our customers will look forward to seeing knowing that they will always receive excellent customer service. You will also be required to be enthusiastic, hardworking and have a positive attitude.

Selby: Plumbing and Heating Salesperson

In this role, you will be responsible for multi drop deliveries to customers in the surrounding area, providing top quality customer service. Knowledge of the building industry will be an advantage. In addition to your driving duties we would expect you to be flexible and assist with yard/warehouse duties should the need arise.

A class 2 licence is essential and HIAB certification would be a distinct advantage for this role. You will also need a digital tachograph card and up to date CPC training.

As a driver, you are the face of MKM to many of our customers and as such you should be of smart appearance and have a positive, friendly and helpful manner.

Warrington: Plumbing and Heating Salesperson

Warrington: Yard Foreman

The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in managing a warehouse/yard in a fast-paced environment and experience of effectively running a successful function. The individual will be responsible for the yard/warehouse operation and for providing excellent standards of service, efficiency and performance.

Duties will include:
• Responsibility for the day to day operations of the yard/warehouse department
• Efficiently managing a team of yard/warehouse staff, ensuring orders are correct and on time, providing top quality customer service
• Responsibility for all goods in/out
• Ensuring company compliance of all warehouse/yard policies, legislations and procedures as well as taking responsibility for health and safety issues of the warehouse/yard
• Managing, monitoring and developing a team of warehouse/yard staff
• Involvement in strategic development and improvements
• Ensuring housekeeping is well maintained including excellent external presentation of our branch
• Maintain accurate administrative records

The successful candidate should have excellent leadership, communication and problem solving skills. We are looking for a candidate with strong people management skills who is keen to manage and develop the team whilst operating an efficient and effective yard/warehouse.

To be successful you should have previous foreman/ management experience in a similar role, experience in the merchant industry would be preferable. Knowledge of the products/industry would also be an advantage as would a full driving licence and fork lift truck licence.

York: Counter Sales Assistant
