Anlaby Branch: Kitchen Sales Designer

Kitchens are an element of what we currently offer at our Anlaby branch, and is an area with great potential for development and growth.

We are looking for an experienced person to drive this part of the business forward.

Choosing a new kitchen is a big decision for our customers, therefore you will need to get to know them, listen to their needs and work with them every step of the way to ensure their requirements are met. You will identify and recommend the products that best suit their needs, paying close attention to detail and ensuring customer satisfaction every time.

In addition to visitors to our showroom you will need to possess the drive and confidence to pro-actively generate new business. You should have previous experience in a similar role and a proven track record of achievement.

You should also have experience of ‘20-20 Fusion’ planning software, or similar, and be able to demonstrate your sound product knowledge of kitchen and bathroom products. In addition to your product knowledge you should possess a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Beverley Branch: Plumbing and Heating Warehouse Assistant

In this role you will work as part of our warehouse team. Duties will include accurately checking supply orders received, assisting customers, providing excellent customer service, loading and unloading vehicles, picking and checking orders, storing stock safely and maintaining a tidy and safe working environment.

A driving Licence would be advantageous for this position, as would a counterbalance forklift Licence; however, should you not have a forklift Licence training can be provided.

Knowledge of plumbing and heating products is essential.

You will be working within a small close knit team and will be dealing with our customers, therefore need to have the likeability factor and be the person that our customers will look forward to seeing knowing that they will always receive excellent customer service. You will also be required to be enthusiastic, hard working, pay close attention to detail and have a positive attitude. To apply for this role, you must have previous/ current experience of working in a similar role.

Bishop Auckland Branch: Apprentice Yard Assistant

You will join MKM as a trainee Yard Assistant and we will support you through your training to gain your Foundation Modern Apprenticeship and/or Advanced Modern Apprenticeship.

The role will be based in the Yard, therefore your training will be based around the variety of products that we stock as well as the warehousing and distribution practices you will be involved in. You will also spend time working in other areas within the branch to ensure you gain a full understanding of the business. Over time there may also be the opportunity for you to progress into other roles within the business if you have the potential.

We have been recruiting apprentices for 8 years and a number of our top performing trainees have now taken up senior roles within the business. We are continually expanding so the opportunity is there for you to carve out a career with the largest independent builders merchants, if you have the drive and determination to succeed!

Unlike some apprenticeships, which pay the apprenticeship rate and may not result in employment upon completion, here at MKM we will pay you the minimum wage from day one and the position is a permanent one.

In return we are looking for applicants who can demonstrate the desire and potential to learn quickly and develop a career with MKM. Whilst GCSEs are not essential reasonable grades, Grade C and above would be helpful. In addition, you should be smartly presented, confident and have a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

Crewe Branch: Kitchen Sales Designer

In this position you will play a key role in the sale of our full range of lightside products.

Duties will include providing quotations for customers, purchasing materials and managing stock levels. In addition to dealing with customers that come into the branch and approach you, you should also be committed to taking a proactive approach to sales and using every opportunity to make or increase a sale.

You will need sound product knowledge and previous sales experience in a merchant environment. You should be confident, outgoing, have the ability to build and develop great customer relationships, a good telephone manner and be computer literate.

Hartlepool Branch: HGV Driver

In this role you will be responsible for multi drop deliveries to customers in the surrounding area, providing top quality customer service. Knowledge of the building industry will be an advantage. In addition to your driving duties we would expect you to be flexible and assist with yard/warehouse duties should the need arise.

HIAB certification would be a distinct advantage for this role and a counterbalance fork lift truck licence is also desirable. You will also need a digital tachograph card and up to date CPC training.

As a driver you are the face of MKM to many of our customers and as such you should be of smart appearance and have a positive, friendly and helpful manner.

Hexham Branch: HGV Driver

In this role you will be responsible for multi drop deliveries to customers in the surrounding area, providing top quality customer service. Knowledge of the building industry will be an advantage. In addition to your driving duties we would expect you to be flexible and assist with yard/warehouse duties should the need arise.

Hi-ab certification and counterbalance fork lift truck licence is desirable for this role, although training is available. You will also need a digital tachograph card and up to date CPC training.

Hexham Branch: Salesperson

In this role you will work as part of a small team responsible for the sale of a wide range of products, including building, plumbing and timber products. You will also provide quotations to customers and follow these up, purchase materials and offer advice where required.

You will be working at the counter focusing on customers that come into the branch, therefore you will be required to have previous customer service experience and be someone who likes interacting with customers. Your ability to build up a strong rapport with our customers will be essential in this role and you will need to understand the importance of following up enquiries and keeping customers updated.

Experience of working within the industry and product knowledge would be advantageous for this role.

You should be outgoing, have the ability to build and develop positive customer relationships, good numerical ability, a good telephone manner, be computer literate and possess a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Hexham Branch: Timber Specialist

The role of Timber Salesperson is a vital part of our plans for the growth of the branch.

This is a fantastic opportunity where you will have the opportunity to take ownership of and drive forward sales of timber, sheet and joinery with the aim of increasing our customer base, sales and profit and making MKM Hexham the place of choice for all timber related supplies.

You will also be required to cover driving duties as and when business needs demand, which will involve making multi drop deliveries in the surrounding area.

Possessing a driving licence is therefore essential for this role. Possessing a Class 2 driving license would be a distinct advantage, however not essential, as we would be willing to offer Class 2 driving training for the right candidate.

You will be working within a small close knit team and will be dealing with our customers daily. You will therefore need to have the likeability factor and be the person that our customers will look forward to seeing knowing that they will always receive excellent customer service. You will also be required to be enthusiastic, hardworking and have a positive attitude.

Working within the Heavyside sales team, the main purpose of your role will be to maximise sales and margin by building first class relationships with customers both over the telephone and face to face, whilst maintaining excellent customer service. You will also be required to provide quotations to customers, follow them up and to pro-actively develop sales. You will need a good knowledge of a variety of building products and have experience of working in a similar position within a builders merchants.

You will be working within a close knit team and will be dealing with our customers on a daily basis. You will therefore need to have the likeability factor and be the person that our customers will look forward to seeing knowing that they will always receive excellent customer service and sound advice. You should also be enthusiastic, hard working and have a positive attitude.

Stockton: Plumbing and Heating Manager

This is a great opportunity for a pro-active individual to take ownership of the sales and development of our lightside ranges.

Your overall aim will be to establish and grow our customer base, maximise sales and profit and make MKM Stockton the place of choice for all lightside supplies.

You should already be experienced within the industry, having operated at a supervisory or management level and also be someone with that extra drive and determination to make a real success of what you do.

York: Yard Assistant/Relief HGV Driver
