Job Opportunities

MKM offers a variety of opportunities. You may want a role you are experienced in, maybe your ambition is to develop your career in a new role or even become a Branch Director. We have an expansion programme whereby there will always be opportunities to further your career with MKM. Testament to this is that some of our branch managers began their careers working as Yard Assistants and Drivers. We are committed to the training and development of all our employees whether to improve upon or to develop your knowledge and skills, or to prepare you for increased responsibility. 

Roles within MKM

Branch based roles: 

  • Yard Assistant
  • Warehouse Assistant
  • Driver - Transit, 7½ tonne vehicles and Class 2 vehicles (with hi-ab)
  • Administration
  • Yard Foreman
  • Showroom Salesperson
  • Assistant Manager
  • Branch Manager
  • Modern Apprenticeships: This is an excellent opportunity for young people to learn whilst they earn and gain a nationally recognised qualification. The Modern Apprenticeship route may be right for you if:  

  • You are aged between 18 and 23 years old.
  • You want to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
  • You have reasonable GCSE grades in maths and English (IT would be useful too).
  • You have a 'can do' attitude.
  • You are confident and ambitious.
  • You want to develop a career in merchanting.

NVQ's are available in Customer Services, Warehousing and Distribution and Business Administration. For further details look at the link to the Builders Merchants Federation website and click on 'merchant apprenticeships' under the training heading.

Central Support Team

This team is based in Hull and employs staff in the following functions: Finance, Credit Control, Purchase Ledger, Information Technology, Human Resources, Marketing, Product Management and Reception/Administration.
