MKM World Cup Final
MKM Berwick sends lucky winner to South Africa for World Cup final

I’ll just need to buy some earplugs to block out the vuvuzelas!

A customer from our Berwick branch has won the trip of a lifetime to see the World Cup final in Johannesburg on the 11th July. The lucky winner, Kenny Waddell, will be taking his son, Graeme, along on the trip, which includes both flights and accommodation.

The competition was run throughout June 2010 and all 36 MKM branches across the country took part. Customers simply had to make a purchase of £100 or more to be included in the draw, which saw over 6000 people enter.

Kenny, whose joinery business is based in Greenlaw, was taken aback to hear the news that he had won, as he explains:

“I knew all about the MKM World Cup competition, but when I received a call to say I had won a prize I never thought it would be that! I’m really looking forward to soaking up the atmosphere in South Africa and watching some world class football. My son and I are keen football followers and always try to see our national team, Scotland, when they play at home.

“I have never been to an away game so this will be a great holiday – I’ll just need to buy some earplugs to block out the vuvuzelas!”

World cup competition winner, Kenny Waddell, with MKM’s Berwick Branch Director, Brian Morton.

MKM’s Berwick Branch Director, Brian Morton, comments:

“I’m delighted that out of 36 branches, it was one of our regular customers that won the competition. We have been running world cup-themed trade days and events since the start of the tournament to help our staff and customers get into the spirit. All of us at the branch are wishing Kenny and Graeme a great time and are looking forward to hearing about their trip!”
